Weight Loss Shakes Program

shakeI don’t like shake programs. I would not support them for long term diets, and if your looking to lose a little weight I think there are better options. However, these programs are popular so I thought I would make a post about them.

Essentially a shakes program helps you keep optimal body functioning while eating less. What you are doing is feeding your body with all of the crucial nutrients and minerals it needs to keep going while avoiding fatty and high carb foods.

You avoid these foods because fat will just be added to your existing fat on your body and carbs will be burned for energy. This is not what you want. What you want is no trans fats in your diet so you don’t add to the problem. And, you don’t want to be burning carbs for energy. You want to be burning fat for energy.

While programs vary, the one consistent theme is this: The only thing you really want to eat is low fat protein. Some shakes have protein in them already, but from my experience its not enough. Also protein is special because there are different kinds of it and they work together to build your muscles and other tissues. The shakes can only provide one type. You need both type to make it work.

When I said earlier that you should only use shake programs to lose a bit of weight I meant it. These shakes are packed with nutrients, but there is no substitute for the benefits of healthy eating. Not only are the nutrients from fruits and vegetables generally easier to digest, they are also more dense. On top of this, your body needs both soluble and insoluble fiber to keep your stomach healthy. There are many other reasons to choose healthy eating.

Not all shake programs are made equal. Some companies have been known to water down their shakes to save money. Be careful when your choosing which shakes program to go with.
